Agony++ by sudeki-chan Agony++ by sudeki-chan
:] its for an emily dickinson project where we draw pics to represent poems...

"I like a look of Agony,
Because I know it's true--
Men do not sham Convulsion,
Nor simulate, a throe--
The Eyes glaze once-- and that is Death--
Impossible to feign
The Beads upon the forhead
By homley Anguish strung"

-Emily Dickinson

*gives you a comment aswell* didnt see that comming, eh?

right, because im an ass and im stupid...and i cant think striaght....and its 1:40am....and because i think you deserve it im gonna give you a stupidly long comment! if i go off track sorry! XD

First off, the lineart: It looks like you have given some thought into which areas of the image you wanted to place lineart. this to me is a very nice touch to any image. it varys the depth across the pic if its not the same all over. im glad that you have left out the lineart on the hair, because it is so detailed any lineart would of made it 'cluttered'. to the areas in which you have left the lineart i feel it needed it to help define them and to 'flow' with the more detailed areas of the image. for example, the lineart on the hands has helped to define them, while the lineart on the blue see-through cloth adds detail where it couldnt be added in any other way.

sorry, minds gone dead - will move on to colouration ^^;

So, the first thing that striked me about this image was the hair. *gasp* its sooo good, this to me looks like a professionally made anime image. The variation between light and dark on almost every single strand of hair is incredible. i rarely see anyone put this kind of detail into the hair, but im glad you did. the image just comes to life and when mixed with the feeling given by the eyes you end up with one disturbing atmosphere XD. another nice feature about the hair is the fact that the highlights run across the hair in the same places - realism has been brought into the mix. next, the clothing - awsome. there is too much art missing this kind of detail, but when it is seen it sadly goes unacknowledged by most. the highlights are all placed correctly and the same goes for the darker areas. Your shading style is really nice in the fact that you have defining light and dark areas, but when looked upon as a whole it all flows together incredible well (yeah, i use 'flow' a lot =p).

i cant think of anything else, sorry but my mind wants to sleep XP

lastly, the criticisms (like i said to the only other person i have done one of these comments for, please do not be offended/upset at anything i say. as one artist to another i give you these in the hope to help you better improve your art for the future :)). the right hand (my right, not hers =p) looks slightly off from the forearm. this is not immediatly reconisable, but is picked up with some closer inspection of the image. it looks slightly down and off to the left from where it should be. a great way to spot things like this is to flip the image over, or look at it in a mirror. you will instantly be able to see any errors in your work (if any are there). give it a go when you finish the lineart of your next pic and you'll see what i mean :). the only other thing i can see is the top of the skirt where it meets the body - at the sides it doesnt stick out (hard to explain, sorry). this makes it look skin-tight on her waist, which by the looks of the rest of the skirt it shouldnt be (i could be wrong and you may of meant to make it like that, in which case ignore my dribble-drabble crap). would of been all that much better with a background, but by adding one you do risk messing with the integrity and atmosphere currently portrayed in the image, so im happy with it the way it is.

heh, knackered now - hope that it was of help/actually made sence to you!

Art is what the artist puts on paper accroding to his/her eyes and how she/he feels. There isno correct way of making art. What you see is not necessarily the same as other artists. You should appreciate more what others see more than to look for imperfections that only your eyes can see, You cant be an artist. I want to critic your work.

Yes, you are totally correct - no two people are ever the same.

I do really, REALLY appreciate Su's artwork, which is why i spent over an hour giving her a lengthy and in-depth comment. Giving comments like 'nice' or 'good' does not help the artist or show any productivity.

I gave Su this comment to help her define her already stunning artwork. No offence was meant by my comment to her. Sorry if i have upset you or caused offence in any way.

If you do wish to critic my work, it can be found here: [link]
